West Branch State Park is located in Portage County just east of Ravenna. Located along Ohio Route 5, it is 26 miles east of Akron, 45 miles southeast of Cleveland, and 150 miles northeast of Columbus. | |||
| The Michael J. Kirwan Lake aka(West Branch Res.) has 2,650 acres of water and extends over seven miles. This provides extensive forks, coves, and fun for all fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. It is a great place to go boating, especially with an unlimited daytime speed limit. The speed limit from sunset to sunrise is 10 mph. | |||
As of early July, the park will be opening a new double launch ramp. It is located close to popular camping and recreation areas of the lake. If you are staying at the camp site on the inlet, you won't have to drive far to get to the access ramp. The ramp is open to the public and has 50 car trailer spaces and a restroom facility and is near the camp office. | |||
